Health & Fitness

Health and fitness play an important role in the healing process. When combined participants feel better, are more energetic, and are less stressed.

Health & Nutrition Counseling

A healthy diet is irrefutably proven to increase life span, energy, and productivity. It can also be incredibly effective in building your self-esteem.

Our nutrition experts teach you what foods you should and shouldn’t put in your body. Foods with addictive properties such as chocolate and other caffeinated substances can severely hinder your recovery efforts. Used in conjunction with other therapies, nutritional counseling and the development of a well-balanced diet is an invaluable ally in the pursuit of overall physical health, and will foster smart and health-conscious decision making for a lifetime of good health.

Fitness and Exercise

Healing and recovering from addiction requires total healing – both mentally and physically. By incorporating exercise into your treatment, you can enhance your recovery process and incorporate life-long healthy routines into your lifestyle. You’ll learn how exercise helps you to relieve stress and clear your mind, which are proven to help when faced with emotional strains of rehabilitation.

At the St. Helena Recovery Center we have a small gym complete with elliptical machines, treadmills, weights and more. In addition to the gym, we offer stretching classes and nature walks on beautiful nature trails that surround our campus.

Massage Therapy

Massage increases body awareness, promotes relaxation, and decreases muscle fatigue and strain, which complements the therapeutic process. Massage therapists typically use their hands and fingers for massage but may also use their forearms, elbow and even feet. Our licensed massage therapists provide lecture on the benefits and types of massage and offer massages to our clients in the program. Some of the types of massage offered include Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, trigger point massage, reflexology, or Shiatsu to name a few.
